The vegetable tannins, complex substances contained in all vegetables, are the foundation of vegetable tanning; they are more or less concentrated in various types of trees and plants and all give the tanned leather a color in shades of brown, with a different shade depending on the origin of the plant. Vegetable tanned leather makes each product unique, guarantees the absence of toxic substances, such as azo dyes, nickel or pentachlorophenol and chromium VI, harmful not only for human beings but also for the environment.
